About McCann Moore Architects

McCann Moore is an Irish residential architecture practice that has spent two decades doing one thing really well: designing homes that people love to live in.

We set up in 2007 and have worked on houses across Ireland ever since.

Extensions that open up dark ground floors.

Renovations that transform how a period home feels.

New builds designed from scratch around how a family actually lives.

We work from two design studios, one in Mount Merrion, Dublin and one in Hillsborough, Northern Ireland, which means we cover projects right across Ireland.

We know Dublin’s housing stock inside out, from Victorian terraces to 1960s semis to developer-built estates. Each era has its own strengths and its own problems. We’ve worked on all of them. That familiarity means we don’t need long to understand what your home can become (because we’ve worked on one like it before).

What sets us apart is how closely we work with our clients. We take time to understand how you live, not just what you want built.

Every project starts with listening. The design develops through a genuine collaboration between you and us. We handle the full process from first conversation through to completion, so you have one team guiding your project the whole way.

Your home is your investment and your vision. Our job is to make sure the architecture does it justice.

McCann Moore is a chartered architecture practice.

Meet Séan and Paul

Séan McCann studied architecture at Queen’s University Belfast and spent the early part of his career with some of the country’s leading practices, including Burke Kennedy Doyle Architects and Anthony Reddy Associates, where he was regional director.

He established McCann Moore with Paul in 2007 and now leads the practice’s work in the Republic of Ireland from the Dublin studio in Blackrock.

Having lived and worked in Dublin for years, Séan knows the city’s housing stock inside out. From Victorian terraces in the suburbs to 1960s and 70s detached homes further out, he has worked on renovations and extensions across Greater Dublin, as well as new builds on rural and coastal sites.

Sean McCann

Director

Paul Moore studied architecture at Queen’s University Belfast, graduating in 1996. He worked with Todd Architects and RPP, before joining Anthony Reddy Associates as associate director in 2005, where he and Séan first worked together.

He co-founded McCann Moore with Séan in 2007 and leads the practice’s work in the Northern Ireland studio in Hillsborough, where he also lives.

Paul has designed homes across Ireland, from Greater Belfast and County Down to rural and coastal sites as far as the Donegal coast. Whether it’s a contemporary new build on an exposed hilltop or a careful renovation in an established suburb, he brings the same attention to how a home sits in its setting and works for the people living in it.

Paul Moore

Director

We hired Sean McCann from McCann Moore Architects to design our 2 storey extension to our semi-detached house in Dublin, and also kept him on for project management help/design consultancy throughout the build. Sean was one of 3 architects who we originally met, and immediately we felt that he listened to us, understood our vision and then designed something that was much better than either of us pictured. He was also an absolute pleasure to deal with and helped ease tensions during a difficult build … I would recommend him 100 times over.
